White Elephant

‘White Elephant’ is usually presented (in the past) in royal ceremonies or royal battlements (hand-to-hand combats on elephant’s back).

To possess a white elephant was regarded (and is still regarded in Thailand and Burma) as a sign that the monarch reigned with justice and power, and that the kingdom was blessed with peace and prosperity. Monarchs often exemplified their possession of white elephants in their formal titles. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_elephant)

Therefore, in many Crafts of Thai and Burmese people, they particularly choose ‘White Elephant’ to express this zone’s cultures as we could see on cloth, cushion pillow cover, flag, bookmark, lady purse, decorating wall hanging, or even wooden elephant toy, etc.
